Liatris spicata, also known as “blazing star” or “gayfeather”, is a plant of the Asteraceae family used in traditional herbal medicine mainly for its diuretic and tonic properties. The mother tincture is prepared from the aerial parts of the plant.
Chemical composition
The plant contains flavonoids, tannins, essential oils, triterpenes, phenolic acids and glycosides. These components contribute to its anti-inflammatory and diuretic properties.
