CHARACTERISTICS OF POLYGALA – POLYGALA TENUIFOLIA
Polygala (Polygala tenuifolia) is a fast-growing evergreen shrub that is often found in gardens as an ornamental plant due to its long flowering period. It is native to South Africa and is a member of the Polygalaceae family. It thrives in warm climates but is sensitive to low temperatures. It has rich foliage and beautiful purple butterfly-shaped flowers. It can grow up to 2 meters tall and prefers moist soils.
In the Greek flora, the species we will encounter is P. vulgaris.
HISTORY
Polygala tenuifolia is often called “The willpower enhancer”.
Even today it is consumed by Buddhist monks since it enhances the calmness of the mind which is a basic condition for the practice of meditation. Over the years, its presence became felt in the Mediterranean zone and among the eastern peoples, as they planted it in gardens and at the entrance of temples for the beauty of the flowers and the positive energy it emits. It is said that it got its name because an increase in milk production was observed in animals that consumed it during their grazing.
PROPERTIES – BENEFITS
Polygala tincture is particularly beneficial for treating allergic rhinitis, as it helps:

and in strengthening the mental well-being, which is often affected in chronic allergy conditions.
CHINESE MEDICINE
Polygala is classified as an herb that "calms the spirit" (Shen), "opens the senses" and "dissolves mucus". It is used when the body cannot expel pathogenic moisture or when there is internal congestion that causes mental and physical imbalance - such as in cases of allergic rhinitis with congestion and mental confusion from the runny nose.
RECOMMENDATION
Alcohol (in variable proportions 50% - 90%), root of the polygala plant, polygala tenuifolia. Drinkable, natural extract from mother tincture (D1).
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION - POLYMILK
Saponins, onjisaponin B, tenuifoliside A, tenuiphenone B, xanthans, triterpenoids, polygalatenoside A, polygalaxanthone III benzoic acid, phenols and other compounds.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
- 30 drops diluted in 1/2 glass of water
- 1-2 times a day for a specific period of time or as directed by the doctor or pharmacist.
- 20 minutes before meals
