CHARACTERISTICS OF POLYGALA – POLYGALA TENUIFOLIA
Polygala (Polygala tenuifolia) is a fast-growing evergreen shrub, often found in gardens as an ornamental plant thanks to its prolonged flowering period. It originates from South Africa and belongs to the Polygalaceae family. It thrives in warm climates and is sensitive to low temperatures. It has dense foliage and bears beautiful purple, butterfly-shaped flowers. It can reach a height of up to 2 meters and prefers soils that retain moisture. In the Greek flora, the species we encounter is P. vulgaris.
HISTORY
Polygala tenuifolia is often called “The Will Enhancer.”
Even today it is consumed by Buddhist monks, as it enhances serenity of mind, which is a basic prerequisite for the practice of meditation. Over the years, its presence became evident in the Mediterranean zone and among Eastern peoples, as it was planted in gardens and at the entrances of temples for the beauty of its flowers and the positive energy it emits. It is said that it got its name because an increase in milk production was observed in animals that consumed it while grazing.

CHINESE MEDICINE
Polygala is classified as an herb that “calms the spirit” (Shen), it “opens the senses” and “dissolves mucus”. It is used when the body cannot expel pathogenic dampness or when there is internal congestion that causes mental and physical imbalance, such as in cases of allergic rhinitis with nasal congestion and mental confusion due to catarrh.
RECOMMENDATION
Alcohol (in variable ratios 50% - 90%), root of the plant polygala, polygala tenuifolia. Drinkable, natural extract from mother tincture (D1).
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION - POLYGALA
Saponins, onjisaponin B, tenuifoliside A, tenuiphenone B, xanthones, triterpenoids, polygalatenoside A, polygalaxanthone III, benzoic acid, phenols and other compounds.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
- 30 drops diluted in 1/2 glass of water
- 1-2 times a day for a specific period of time or as directed by the doctor or pharmacist.
- 20 minutes before meals
