It thrives in humid and cool climates and grows in most types of soil with good sunshine to give abundant fruiting. The plant is sensitive to intense sun and its cultivation should be avoided in areas with very hot summers.
The leaves of the blackcurrant are used to prepare a drink since it has a very special taste and health benefits, as they are high in vitamin C and essential oils. The appropriate time for harvesting and drying the leaves is at the end of spring before the plant begins to bloom. The seeds of the blackcurrant oil are rich in oil which is considered of high value as it contains omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.
HISTORY
The first historical reference to the gooseberry appears in the 17th century, when it became known more as a medicinal fruit than an edible one. Its soothing effect on sore throats was discovered, which is now attributed to the high vitamin C content of its fruits.
During World War II, the cultivation of gooseberries was exploited by the United Kingdom as a fruit rich in vitamin C. A syrup suitable for children was then prepared to strengthen the immune system.
A study at the University of Glasgow (Borges et al, 2010) found that gooseberries had higher antioxidant capacity and anthocyanin content than blueberries and cranberries.

Alcohol (in variable proportions 50% - 90%), gaseous parts (leaves, fruits) of blackcurrant - Ribes nigrum. Drinkable, natural extract from mother tincture (D1).
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF GRAPE
Anthocyanins, cyanidin 3-O-glucoside, flavonoids, myricetin, kaempferol, quercetin, pelargonidin, phenolic acids, p-coumaric acid, vitamin C, glycosides, essential oils, terpenes, esters, alcohols and other compounds.
