The tincture of sino comes from the resin or mastic of the plant Pistacia lentiscus, an evergreen shrub or small tree. It is traditionally used to improve gastrointestinal health, have antimicrobial effects, and support oral health.
Botanical Description
- Family: Anacardiaceae
- Morphology: Evergreen shrub or small tree 1-3 meters tall, with dense foliage and small white-green flowers.
- Resin (Mastic): It is mainly produced by the subspecies Pistacia lentiscus var. chia, which is cultivated in Chios.
- Origin: Mediterranean region, especially in southern Greece and the Aegean islands.
