CALENDULA CHARACTERISTICS
Calendula (Calendula officinalis) is a wildflower that belongs to the same genus as arnica. Around 15 species of the genus Calendula have been reported in various floras around the globe. Among these, most pharmacological research is available for C. officinalis, which is the most widespread cultivated species.
Farmers plant calendula among summer vegetables to attract insects that enhance pollination and fruiting. At the same time, the flowers of the plant repel harmful pests and thus help maintain balance in the ecosystem.
HISTORY
Calendula was first discovered in the Mediterranean, and its flowers have been used since at least the 12th century in cooking, eaten raw or cooked for their distinctive taste, aroma and color. In antiquity, both Romans and Greeks used to place the flower in religious ceremonies.
During the Middle Ages, the flowers of Calendula were used for liver diseases and to strengthen the heart. In the 18th century, it is also mentioned as a remedy for headache, jaundice and red eyes. The plant was used in the Civil War as an aid in treating wounds and jaundice.
It is believed that the ancient Romans were the first to use calendula. It is often mentioned that they observed the plant blooming on the first day of the month and therefore named it “little calendar” (calendae). In astrology, calendula is considered a masculine plant and is ruled by the sun and the element of fire.

CHINESE MEDICINE
Known as Jin Zhan Ju, calendula is valued in Chinese Medicine for moving and tonifying the blood and liver, enhancing sweating in order to expel the hot wind that causes inflammation in the body. It clears the spleen–liver–heart meridians.
INGREDIENTS
Alcohol (in variable ratios 50%–90%), calendula flowers. Drinkable, natural extract from mother tincture (D1).
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF CALENDULA OFFICINALIS
Carotenoid flavoxanthin and auroxanthin, which give the flowers their yellow color, lutein (80%), α-cardinol (25%), triterpenoid esters, saponins, essential oils, zeaxanthin (5%), bitter principles, mucilage, sterols, flavonoids, resin, plant pigments, plant gum, tocopherols, linoleic acid.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
- 30 drops diluted in 1/2 glass of water.
- Once a day for a specific period of time or according to the instructions of your doctor or pharmacist.
- 20' before eating

- The consumption of the tincture should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you are taking medication, consult your doctor before use.
