CHARACTERISTICS OF VALERIAN
Valeriana Valeriana officinalis is a perennial flowering plant and belongs to
family Valerianaceae. It is a native plant of Greece, Europe, China and
Korea. We will meet her in meadows near rivers and lakes.
In our country, valerian is cultivated as a perennial plant. The height and width
of the plant if it is not limited by the harvests, it can reach up to
one and a half meters.
The leaves are large and jagged with a deep green color, up to 20 cm
length. The plant blooms in summer and displays many small flowers in inflorescences,
white or pink. Creates a rich and deep root system with
special characteristic aroma and its root is the part of the plant with the
major medicinal properties.

HISTORY
The name of the herb comes from the Latin verb valere meaning “to
you are strong and healthy". Its use is mentioned in traditional medicine
herb by Hippocrates and Galen, who recommended it as a remedy for
insomnia and nervousness.
Because of its characteristic smell, people often placed it in the
entrance of the house as protection from evil spirits.
The 17th century astrologer botanist Nicholas Culpeper believed that the plant
she was under the influence of Mercury, and therefore has her ability
movement and body heating.
Traditional farmers planted valerian near vegetables for the boost
of growth and productivity. Today, valerian is cultivated
intensively in many parts of the planet and exploited by the
pharmaceutical companies that prepare preparations for the treatment against
of anxiety and insomnia.

PROPERTIES – BENEFITS
The taste of valerian is strong, dry and bitter. Valpotriets are the main one
essence of the plant and responsible for the calming effect on the central nervous system
system.
The use of valerian tincture is recommended:
- As an effective aid for dealing with insomnia. A few drops
of valerian in water are enough to have a natural and restful sleep.
- Calming in stressful situations, against overexertion.
- In headaches and migraines.
- To strengthen the heart, suitable for tachycardia and its reduction
pressure.

CHINESE MEDICINE
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine valerian is called Xie Cao
and is recommended to women of reproductive age to normalize it
monthly cycle. It is thought to have analgesic properties and stop it
excessive bleeding. It calms the spirit and the use of the herb is energizing
the liver-heart meridians.

RECOMMENDATION
Alcohol (in variable proportions 50% - 90%), valerian rhizome. Drinkable, natural extract of mother tincture (D1).
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF VALERIAN
Valpotriod (responsible for the calming effect of the plant), GABA, volatile
2% oils, volatile alkaloids, sugars, starch, resins, essential oil, organic
acids, nitrogenous compounds, isovaleric acid (responsible for the characteristic
plant smell), resin, tannins.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
- 30 drops diluted in 1/2 glass of water.
- 1-2 times a day for a certain period of time or according to the instructions
of the doctor and the pharmacist.
- 20' before eating
